Are you ready for the opportunity to take your craft to its full potential? Advanced Tooling Specialists (ATS) is on the cutting edge of engineering, manufacturing and machining. We are actively seeking a Controls/Electrical Engineer / Service Technician to join our team in Menasha, Wisconsin.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic assembly work on projects (custom machines and systems)
  • Assemble machinery, including automation, systems and tooling
  • Study wiring diagrams and manuals to determine correct installation and quality
  • Routing and bundling of wire and cables neatly to meet wiring standards
  • Point to point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, I/O Modules, VFDs, Interfaces and Instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot panels as needed to eliminate wiring errors and component malfunctions
  • Work with Controls and programming vendors to provide documentation for and instructions on equipment operations
  • Work with Controls and programming vendors to troubleshoot equipment in the field or during equipment builds
  • Maintain red line drawing mark-ups of changes required during fabrication
  • Manage and schedule assembly personnel to optimize effectiveness and efficiency of assembly projects and service opportunities

Your Experience Includes:

  • Technical degree/certificate or equivalent years of experience
  • 5+ years working as a machine builder and/or assembler in an Engineer to Order design/build environment, and in the field installing, starting up and servicing machinery and systems with increasing degrees of responsibility
  • Custom Machinery and Automation experience
  • Controls software - Ability to connect and troubleshoot controls hardware and logic via software. Programming experience a major plus
  • Controls hardware - General understanding of electric control devices (e.g., sensors, solenoid valves, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and work from schematics
  • Field wiring, panel building
  • Electromechanical, power transmission, hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems
  • Customer service experience dealing directly with customers to troubleshoot and solve issues via phone or remote login (VPN)
  • Strong Microsoft Office/Software skills

Additional Experience in the Following Areas a Plus:

  • Robotics programming and troubleshooting
  • Electrical and Controls Engineering
  • Supervisor or working lead experience in similar roles

Other Position Clarification:

  • Overtime available and likely, varies based on current workload
  • In-facility hours would consist of approx. 60-85% of annual workload
  • On-site at customer location hours would consist of approx. 15-40% annual workload
  • Service trips are typically 1-3 days at customer facility
  • Startups are typically 3-5 days at customer facility
  • Working weekends is rare but required from time to time if project timeline or service needs require
  • Some customers are drivable, some require flying domestically. A few customers require trips to Mexico (1-3x per year, on average)
  • Access to company vehicles provided for travel
  • Would be provided a dedicated cell phone or on a rotation with other service personnel for service phone. Will be asked to handle customer calls that may arise dring standard or non-standard work hours
